Representative Projects

Replace 10” & 8” Transfer Pipelines, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska

Value:  $4 million

Removal and replacement of 17,000 feet of JP-8 fuel pipeline.  Project included closing of base main runway for excavation activities, so adhering to schedule was critical.  Substantial completion date one year ahead of schedule.

Road Repair Phase III, Fox NOAA Site, Alaska

Value: $4.1 Million
Design and construction of a road to the site which included a steep grade and required accessibility around sharp turns for oversize trailers loaded with antenna sections.  Construction of utilities and support pad for 21 meter antenna, installation of several miles of fiber optic cables, transformers, and additional electrical systems to the project once concrete was in place.  There was not an existing antenna design and despite the numerous design changes there was minimal impact to the budget and none to the schedule.

Eagle River Flats Pond Drainage, Fort Richardson, Alaska

Value:  $1 Million

Weldin Construction as hired to support CRREL (Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory) for remedial activities at Eagle River Flats (ERF)  source of Operable Unit C, Fort Richardson, Alaska.  This area consists of former open burning/open detonation pad.  The remedy consists of treating white phosphorus contaminated sediment by draining permanently flooded pond areas with pumps and caping areas that do not de-saturate and increase temperature, which will result in sublimation/oxidation of the white phosphorus.

PL-81 Pipeline Demolition, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska

Value:  $1.3 Million

Excavation and removal of 12,000 ft of abandoned pipeline, from the Port of Anchorage to Elmendorf AFB.  Coordination among Defense Energy Support Center, 3rd Contracting Squadron, Port of Anchorage, Municipality of Anchorage, and ADEC personnel was required through the duration of the project.  Activities included pipeline excavation and removal, backfilling and restoration of the area; removal and closure of two UST’s; demolition of oil-water separator dam; excavation of contaminated soil; installation and backfilling of monitoring wells; provision and installation of interpretive kiosk, construction of contaminated material containment cells and bike path and new road.  Project was completed months ahead of schedule.
